Well, it is National Coming Out Day 2011, folks. (Happy Coming Out Day!!)

To those already out: Let us stand and fight together.
To those still ‘in the closet’: It is YOUR choice if and when to come out.
To those who truly support us: I am proud to call you an ally.
To my fallen brothers and sisters: It is because of YOU why I fight for our human rights. Thank you for all that you have done. While your voices are missed, they are still heard loud and strong.

Now, I am not sure how to explain these feelings I have been having more and more every day - as I am still not 100% sure about them, but I would like you all to know that I believe that I may not just be genderqueer.
For those of you who know me, you know that I identify as ‘queer’ - not gay, not a lesbian - but ‘queer’. This is because I have been having difficulty figuring out my true identity. In all actuality, I have just been taking my time with it. As you all know, it is a bit of a process. It does not just happen overnight.
Anyhow, my wonderful girlfriend (Tashia) and I have been discussing this for some time now, and I am starting to believe that I am a trans*man.
Not only does she refer to me as her ‘boyfriend’, but she believes that I am a man, and she loves me regardless.
Tashia has always referred to me in my preferred pronouns - and even corrected people for me.
She encourages me to bind and pack whenever I please.
She makes me feel better when I feel dysphoric.
She has even suggested a name for me since I dislike my birth name ‘Lauren’. (The name she suggested is ‘Riley’ - which I absolutely love since we feel that I look like a Riley - AND it has a close personal meaning to me.)
Moreover, Tashia has expressed a great interest in wanting to be there for me when I eventually get top surgery. Tashia is beyond amazing to me.
After Tashia talked to me about all this, I felt exhilarated. I love the fact that she thinks of me this way and accepts me for who I truly am. In the past, I experienced cissexism and gender dysphoria alone. And now, I feel like I just need to accept who I am, embrace it, and come to terms with it.
Being trans* just makes sense to me. It feels right. It’s who I am, and now I want to share that with you all.

My name is Riley and I am a trans*man.

Thank you so much for reading, folks. And happy coming out!!

Sincerely,
Riley

P.S. As always, please feel free to contact me with questions or comments. Cheers. :)

More gender neutral pronoun graphics. Uh… I have no idea how popular these or other pronouns are so feedback and requests would...
