Q:You know people that identify was queer just because they're allies? Excuse me? That's incredibly appropriative. Queer is a reclaimed slur. I can understand heterosexuality (and heteroromantic) because its anything that isn't apart of the heteronormative, so trans* and gender noncomforing folk sure. But straight allies? No. Fuck them. Thats like a white person saying they can be two spirit. It's appropritive and wrong.Tell them to check their privilege.

While I can understand your point of view here, it is not my place (nor is it yours) to tell someone what they can or cannot identify as. Perhaps the best thing to do is to get to know such people and what their intentions are. That’s just my opinion, though.

For those not aware, queer heterosexuality basically describes heterosexual practice that is queer.

From PFLAG.org: “Think of queer as an umbrella term. It includes anyone who a) wants to identify as queer and b) who feels somehow outside of the societal norms in regards to gender, sexuality or/and even politics. This, therefore, could include the straight ally who marches during pride, the republican lesbian, the person who highly values queer theory concepts and would rather not identify with any particular label, the gender fluid bisexual, the gender fluid heterosexual, the questioning GLBT person, and the person who just doesn’t feel like they quite fit in to societal norms and wants to bond with a community over that”

For those interested, more on queer heterosexuality/straight allies identifying as queer can be found at any of the following links:

More gender neutral pronoun graphics. Uh… I have no idea how popular these or other pronouns are so feedback and requests would...
