We're all mad here: [TRIGGER WARNING: TRANSMISOGYNY, TRANS SLURS] ATTENTION CISSEXIST FUCKS

anatomical-anomaly:

For the love of all that is sacred STOP USING THE TAGS ‘SHEMALE’ AND ‘TRAP’ ON PICTURES OF TRANS* WOMEN.

Seriously. It’s extremely rude and offensive and portrays trans* women as deceptive beings who’re trying to ‘trick’ straight men into ‘turning gay.’

Things wrong with that theory (apart from the fact that it exists at all):

  • Trans* women are WOMEN. And they are because they identify as such. No one has the right to police other people’s identities, so whatever gender/sexuality/whatever someone identifies as IS WHAT THEY FUCKING ARE. DO NOT QUESTION THIS. DO NOT IGNORE THIS.
  • I suppose this follows from the previous point, but a straight guy sleeping with a trans* woman is not ‘turning gay’ despite the prejudice that one’s genitals define one’s gender. A straight guy who’s sleeping with a trans* girl is still with a girl, therefore not ‘making him gay.’ Also this ignores the sexuality of the guy in question. Maybe he’s bi, pan, ace and heteroromantic, whatever.
  • Not all trans* women are interested in men. Many are lesbians, many are asexual, etc. So, the whole supposed ‘we will deceive teh menfolks’ mentality is bullshit

Honestly, people. Trans* women are one of the most misrepresented, discriminated against, misunderstood, fetishised, victimised, and stigmatised demographics of humans ever.

They are not “failed men,” they are not the same thing as drag queens, they are not some object to be used and abused, they are not an abomination or menace to society.

THEY. ARE. WOMEN.

Women who happen to have a medical condition causing their bodies to develop into an androgen-based system rather than an oestrogen-based one. Women who were told from birth that they were supposed to be men and were brought up trying to meet this expectation that no one ever bothered to ask them what they thought of it. Women who, as a group, probably deal with more bigotry and various other types of fucked up nonsense in an hour than many white, cis, hetero guys do in their entire lives.

I’m tagging this with the disrespectful tags in hopes that the folks posting under them will see this and think about what they’re doing.

Use your fucking heads, people. Treat others with basic respect and dignity.

In conclusion: fuck with any of my friends who are fabulous trans* ladies and I will fuck your shit up.
