Ze said unto Hir people ‘You do not have to celebrate those who use your proper Words and recognize the validity of your existence. You do not have to be grateful for them. No more than you are grateful for and celebrate the Stranger you passed the other day because they did not punch you in the face simply because you were there. These are the behaviors of Basically Decent People. They are a starting point. Not a special goal to be achieved.’

We Graduate People: Trans* Experience at Smith College
By Alamia Charles:
“We Graduate People” is a project that I worked on for my Advanced Documentary Production class in Spring of 2013 at Smith College.
It is a documentary that depicts 2 trans* people’s experiences at Smith College, and the Microaggressions that each of them faced at a liberal institution.
This film, because of time constraints, only addresses the experiences of two people that identify with the gender binary and in no way represents every trans* person that attends, will attend, or attended Smith College.
Through this project I hoped to give a voice to those on campus that often do not have a voice.
