Mixed Messages From Cindy McCain

Cindy McCain x390 (Fair Use) I Advocate.com

Where does Cindy McCain stand on repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell?”

After starring in a new NoH8 video condemning the policy, the wife of Republican senator John McCain tweeted Friday: “I fully support the NOH8 campaign and all it stands for and am proud to be a part of it. But I stand by my husband’s stance on DADT.”

Senator John McCain has been a fierce opponent of repealing the 1993 law barring openly gay service members and has vowed to filibuster the National Defense Authorization Act, of which DADT repeal is remains a component — at least for now.

“Our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth that they have no future,” Cindy McCain said in the NoH8 video. “They can’t serve our country openly.”

Cindy McCain is a hater - reverses self on DADT 24 hours after doing video linking the gay ban to gay youth suicide

With all due respect, Cindy McCain is a liar.  The only question is when she lied - today, or yesterday.

Yesterday, Cindy McCain - the wife of US Senator John McCain - released a video in which she criticized the US government“Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” policy, and suggested that it gave bullies an incentive to bash gay youth, who then try to kill themselves.

Today, Cindy McCain is suddenly tweeting how pro-DADT she is (clearly, her homophobic husband, who is leading the charge on trying to filibuster the effort to repeal DADT, got to her).  Which means, of course, that by her own words she now thinks she is responsible for gay kids committing suicide.

Did she lie today or lie yesterday?  Either way, she’s a liar, and she should be removed from the NOH8 video because, as of right now, Cindy McCain is a hater.  Not to mention, great message she just sent to gay youth.  If someone pressures you, cave and support hate.

I can’t believe I defended this woman over the past 24 hours to people who tweeted me, and messaged me on Facebook, and said she was a fraud.  I argued that she had a done a great thing.  And now we see the real Cindy McCain: Hateful two-faced homophobic fraud.

Her lying homophobic face needs to be yanked from that video immediately.

Elton John on Why He Sang for Rush

ELTON JOHN 201010 X390 (GETTY) | ADVOCATE.COM

Pop icon Elton John says he sang for conservative talk behemoth Rush Limbaugh’s wedding in June to open a dialogue with him.

“When he asked me to play at his wedding, my agent said, ‘Well of course you won’t be doing it,’ But I said, ‘Well, let me think about that first,’” John told the London Telegraph. The singer was paid $1 million for his performance.

Though Limbaugh has said there is no proof that AIDS can be transmitted heterosexually and described it as a “hyped” disease, John noted that Limbaugh and President Barack Obama currently share the same stance that marriage should be for heterosexual couples and civil unions are for gay and lesbian couples.

Still, John said he got along well with Limbaugh and his new wife, Kathryn Rogers, and that hopefully, “I think this year I can start to put things in motion by trying to get him on my side.”
