Former American Idol contestant Fantasia Barrino, whose remarks about gay marriage and The Bible made headlines last week, took to Instagram once again to express her anger (see the image she posted, above).

Said Barrino: “My whole team is gay, my manager is gay, middle finger up to those who seak (sic) to destroy me. It won’t work.”

Said Barrino in her original posting: “I Rise ABOVE IT ALL!!! THE WORLD IS GONE MAD. KIDS, THE GOVERNMENT THE church House… Everybody Trying!!!!!!! Its a lot that going on that the Bible speaks about we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some places, Gay Marriage Legal BUT YET IM JUDGED!!! I’m not doing Nothing for you… My Life!!!!”

She later released a personal statement, saying “I don’t want to be judged.”

Project Queer: I guess Fantasia has not been informed of the fact that just because you KNOW gay people does not automatically make you pro-gay. If you make anti-gay statements (out of defense or FOR WHATEVER REASON), those statements are still going to be viewed as anti-gay and (probably) addressed.

Nine of 10 teenagers have witnessed bullying on social networks, study finds

There’s something about the Internet that can bring out meanness in teenagers.

That is one finding of a study to be released Wednesday that reports that nine in 10 teenagers say they have witnessed cruelty by their peers on social networks.

 

For the vast majority of teens, Facebook is the social network of choice. They say that incidents of mean and cruel behavior are pervasive and cut across all ages and backgrounds on social networks, according to the study by the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, which surveyed 800 children between the ages of 12 and 17.

The data on Internet experiences for young people is not all bad. Eight in 10 teenagers said they have developed positive feelings about themselves and forged better friendships on social networking sites, according to Pew.

Still, the prevalence of “mean” behavior — a term the center doesn’t define — raised concerns among child-safety advocates and parents who say adolescents may be subjecting themselves to unhealthy online environments.

Man Posed as Lesbian to Prey on Girls

A former Glasgow nurse has confessed to 49 pedophile sex charges against girls aged 10 to 15.

Authorities say Barry McCluskey, 39, posed as a teenage lesbian on social networking sites and preyed on nearly 50 victims between 2007 and 2010 from the home he shared with his wife and two children.

Despite having no face-to-face or physical contact with any of the girls, McCluskey was able to lure some of them to strip and perform sex acts for him via webcam while he recorded the footage.

He also blackmailed some of the victims. According to prosecutor Alison Di Rollo,

“Those who were, or became reluctant, he would ask to do more—telling them if they did not, he may have to forward the video they had already done to friends.”

An investigation of his home computers yielded almost 10,000 indecent images of children.

McCluskey will be sentenced later this year.
