I am doing research trying to find top surgery doctors around Illinois.
Thus far, I have had no luck finding reputable, trans*-friendly surgeons.
My goal is to raise all the funds that I need to have my top surgery sometime next winter - maybe January 2013. By then, I also to hope to have started T - and been on it for at least six months. (I read that being on T for awhile prior to top surgery helps the healing process and building muscle/strength faster).
Ultimately, I may have to travel to Florida and see Dr. Garramone. From other peoples’ stories and photos, it definitely sounds like it would be worth the trip and money. If this is so, I will need around $10,000 for the surgery, consultations, aftercare, air fair, motel stay, food and supplies for a week, etc. Oi.
Does anyone know of a reputable doctor(s) that is closer to me? Any thoughts? Suggestions?

My chosen name is Riley. I am a twenty-four year old pre-everything trans* man currently living around Chicago, Illinois.

My Story
I have recently come out online (and to some friends) as trans* after believing myself to be a number of other identities. Many people in my life (including family) still do not know of my trans* status. Therefore, I am stealth.
A couple months ago, I was evicted from my last home, and subsequently had to quit my full-time job. Since then, I was forced to move back home with my family. At the moment, I am unemployed - and looking for steady work. Until then, I do not have any income or health insurance. Therefore, I am transitioning naturally - with vitamins, a particular diet, and workout schedule.
In the meantime, I have created and run the blog Project Queer. I update Project Queer multiple times every day with: queer news, action alerts, human rights violations, photos, videos, quotes, and more. I dedicate my time to writing articles, opening discussions, giving advice, and answering questions involving the queer community in an effort to educate others and promote equality.

Personal Goals
- I hope to have at least a part-time job by the end of December.
- I also hope to start seeing a credible doctor early next year in order to discuss my being prescribed testosterone.
- Eventually, I hope to have top surgery by the end of next year.

XVX: Please help me Tumblr. (ACTION ALERT!!)
This donation request is for my top surgery in San Francisco this summer. I have yet to hear back from the doctor with my specific date, so the end date is subject to change.The surgery itself (using a keyhole procedure) will be $6,000 but I also have about $3,000 in extra fees like local anesthesia and surgeon fees. On top of that I need to get there and stay in a hotel for 8 days. I do not expect to raise the entire amount. But when setting up a payment plan with the office I’d like to be able to put down half.
Anybody who knows me knows how long I have been waiting for this surgery, and how much I need it. Any contributions at all will be greatly appreciated. Even if I only raise $100, that’s $100 less that I have to pay.
As of today, also my ENTIRE Etsy shop payout will go to my surgery. So buying from my shop will no longer just go into my bank account, it will go towards helping me feel at home in my own body.
