Of course, the top five folks have all proven to be incredibly problematic and offensive to many minorities. Why are the most popular queer celebrities the most ‘liked’ and ‘viewed’ without question or commentary.

Twitter open to the voice of homophobia? For several days, homophobic tweets including the hashtag “# SiMonFilsEstGay” and “# TesUnPd” multiply on the social network.
The Lesbian and Gay Pride Lyon said he was “deeply shocked by the outpouring of hatred spread on Twitter.” The association Lyon asks Twitter to “take the measure of his responsibility is in the case of such slippages homophobic” and recalls that homophobic and incitement to hatred is illegal and punishable by a year in prison and 45,000 euros fine.
Few weeks ago already, a similar controversy erupted after the release of several messages with the tag “# UnBonJuif.” After numerous complaints from associations, Twitter had removed this hashtag.

Stephen Fry has been named the most influential LGBT Twitter user in PinkNews.co.uk’s 2011 list.
He told PinkNews.co.uk: “It’s a very remarkable honour to top such a list. Thank you.
“Even if 90% of LGBT tweets are used for gossip, flirting and being quite splendidly silly there’s still at least 10% where twitter connects, affirms and vindicates, where it stands up for victims and stands up to bullies and bigots.
“Twitter can help lonely people feel part of a world where love and respect take the place of shame and ignorance.
“And the glory is, you only have to see one tweet from a cruel, bullying imbecile and you can block them out of your twitter life for ever.”

Singer Chris Brown (pictured, left) and former R&B group B2K member De’Mario Thornton (Raz-B, pictured right) exchanged homophobic slurs in a several-hour-long Twitter feud Wednesday.
Thornton tweeted, “I’m just sittin here Thinking how can n—-s like @ebenet & @ChrisBrown disrespect women as Intelligent as @HalleBerry11 [and] @Rihanna,” referencing Eric Benet, Halle Berry, and Rihanna. Brown quickly responded with his own tweet: “@razb2k, n—- you want attention! Grow up n—-!!! D— in da booty a– lil boy.”
The ensuing exchange Brown ridiculed Thornton’s accusations of molestation by an ex-manager, and Thornton accused Brown of being closeted. Brown apologized for his homophobic slurs.
